My standard rant when the subject comes up:

I watched several episodes on Cartoon Network a few years ago. I was intrigued at first, but lost interest because they failed to pursue the show's premise: an adult in a child's body.


Conan rarely if ever took advantage of, or played with, his apparent childhood.

Other than his size, his child's body never betrayed him by, say, getting cranky because he needed an afternoon nap.

He rode on his girlfriend's shoulders once, because he'd injured his foot, but resented every second of it. I wanted to see him just ask for horsies.

There was one episode where he organized a bunch of kids in a sort of Baker's Street Irregulars squad, but he did not then attempt to play with them, not so much as a game of soccer. He was, to them, just a grownup in a child's body. Somebody else telling them what to do.

As I recall, he didn't even get a sweet tooth, which I understand is taken as a childish thing, particularly for males.


I know why, I get that he was in his late adolescence, just beginning to gain respect as an adult.

But I still missed the opportunity to look at childhood again with adult sensibilities.
